One of the sayings that I've come to embrace is one that a Director of HR said to me, early in my career: "tue Gutes und sprich darüber" which means, Do good things and talk about them. It's not about trumping yourself up to look better than you are, or to make false claims. But if you do good work, let others know about it, so they can profit from it, too.
